The Schools

Casa by the SeaSchools offering long term, residential, behavior modification programs for teenagers who are exhibiting self destructive behavior are located in various parts of the United States, Mexico and Jamaica. These courses are designed to help teenagers replace inappropriate attitudes, behavior and habits with new, productive ones.  Although the schools are independently owned and operated, they all follow the same program model.

Behavior Modification

Many kids today have not grasped the concept of cause and effect. They do not understand that theirTranquility Bay own behavior is often the cause of the friction around them and tend to respond to punishment with resentment. They carry a chip on their shoulder.

Upon entry, each child begins on level one of a six level program and moves up to each new level as he gains merits for appropriate behavior and completion of tasks. As his point level increases so does his status and the privileges he can enjoy.

Personal development   

Personal development through audio and video tapes, special workshops and regular seminars is an integral part of the program. Students listen to motivational or inspirational tapes during mealtimes and time is given for religious study although no specific doctrine is followed.

The daily structure of the program provides the catalyst for students to develop positive habits and consequently increased self esteem. Kids no longer need to rebel but rather become internally motivated. To accelerate the development of this stage the program appoints students on upper levels to be 'buddies' to new students coming in to the program. This critical stage creates a new sense of confidence and prepares the child to deal with his peer group when he goes home.

Academics

Besides behavior modification the teenagers follow an academic program, which is tailored to their individual needs. Kids work at their own speed, moving on to higher levels as their competence increases. They are not held back by other students, teachers' lesson plans, etc. and it is possible for students to complete courses on an accelerated basis.

Physical Fitness

Cross Creek ProgrammesHealth, fitness and recreation make up the balance of the program. Initially all activities are on campus, but as the privileges increase, outings to cultural events and sports facilities are allowed. Physical fitness is an integral part of the well rounded curriculum through which the students learn to be part of a team while taking part in the group sports activities.

Parents

Parents are also invited to take part in seminars with other parents. They are designed to help the family heal and prepare for when the teenager comes back home. These seminars are held in various parts of the USA and are considered a crucial part of the program.  

Parents may also support each other online in a closed forum or in regular local meetings.

An escort service is available to assist your kids safely to the school if necessary.
